Some sequences of the film prompt you of Kannada film 'Hrudaya Hrudaya', that was a neatly packaged sentimental film. However 'Toofan' doesn't boast of a well-packaged sentimental narrative as 'Hurdaya Hrudaya'. 

It simply ends up as a standard flick with tedious narration and below-the-belt comedy sequences that are more intolerable than a continuous tooth pain within the night. 'Toofan' could be a mediocre film created with little homework and seriousness. The story is woven around Soorya and Raaji, who are deeply gaga with each other. Once Raaji's parents choose another boy named Chandan for her, Soorya is left shocked. Raaji agrees to marry Chandan to please her parents, and tells Soorya that she is going to reveal her past to Chandan on the day of her wedding and convert him to let her head to Soorya. tho' reluctant, Soorya agrees to the concept. As planned, Raaji reveals it all to Chandan, who seeks a while before he sends her to Soorya. 

Meanwhile, one day once Raaji desires to travel out, she faces a health problem. She is admitted to a hospital, wherever she is diagnosed with a heart complication. Coincidentally, Soorya, who is also desperate to meet Raaji, is additionally admitted to the hospital with a serious health problem. Ultimately, Raaji needs to undergo a heart transplant and gets it from Soorya, who loses his life when battling his ailment. The director, Smile Seenu, a debutant, has shown his lack of power in writing a story and the dialogues. He has unabashedly borrowed sequences from several previous Kannada and non-Kannada films. It might be grave injustice if such a film is alleged to be a clever story. Besides his unimaginative writing skills, Seenu also shows his lack of command in handling a typically repeated, formulaic story of a triangular love flick. Just watch the distasteful comedy sequences and insipid romantic sequences to know however Smile Seenu has piled up one blunder when another. 

The film's inferiority content is also marked by the wrong casting. Whereas veterans have delivered their best within the restricted scope they get within the film, the 2 newcomers - Nakshathra and Chandan - have did not build any impact. It becomes fairly obvious for the viewers of the film, that each these debutants needed previous training in an acting school before they two-faced the camera. Yashas is grooming to be a better actor and he appearance tolerable on screen. However the 2 new faces - Nakshatra and Chandan - are a clear saddened. Ramesh Bhat and Chitra Shenoy have done well in their respective roles. However saddhu Kokila's comical performance is painful to look at. Ravi Suvarna's camera work is mediocre.
